This is a second picture of a shot down Messerchmitt taken by Sergeant Alian Green during his time serving with the 8th Army in North Africa.

The original photograph clearly shows bullet and cannon shell holes along the fuselage, almost up to the cockpit. There is some evidence of fire, with the cockpit windscreen frame being blackened and distorted. It looks as if the pilot succeeded in belly landing the fighter with the undercarriage retracted. I assume he escaped before fire took hold of his aircraft.

Apart from the band around the fuselage and Luftwaffe cross the only marking is the number '13' (unlucky for some!) just behind the cockpit. This is a different Me to the one shown under my other Allan Green story.
