I remember being in my pram, my Dad was going back from leave and we were waving him off on the tram. My Mum was crying, I was crying and the dog was crying! We were all living with my grandparents because all the men were away at war. In one house there were 7 people and the dog!
When Dad finally came home I had to get used to him. It caused a few ructions because he was used to instant obedience and this little girl said no! Adjustments on either side had to be made. I'd been indulged by my grandparents whilst he'd been away.
One long lasting memory - he didn't take sugar in his tea so anything that was good enough for Dad was good enough for me and I've never taken sugar in my tea.
