I was 3 when the war started. It was all fun until my dad was called up to fight in the RAF. I lived with my mum and sister. We used to keep rabbits and chickens and we used to eat the eggs and the chickens and rabbits.
I still remember painting the Anderson shelter. We had to wear identity discs. We used to have numbers on our identity discs. Schools weren鈥檛 that different from nowadays. We bought milk out of churns. Clothes were rationed and so was food. We were 1 mile away from American air fields. It was fun when war finished and I was only 9 years old.
