This is a story about my uncle, Arthur Gould: he was my dad鈥檚 step-brother, in fact. He was fatally injured on the field of Arnhem and when his troop were faced with an on-coming German tank, he threw himself up onto the tank, opened the turret and dropped a grenade inside: so he blew himself up at the same time as stopping the German advance upon his men.
