Lilian
We were married seventy-four years ago and I can still remember the First World War.
By the time of the Second War I had two sons.
Before the war I had a girl living with us to help me with the housework.
When the war started lots of the children were being evacuated so my girl took my children back to her home and away from London.
They stayed there for a while and when they came back they went to a boarding school.
I remember the war was a very frightening time with the bombing, and what was going to happen next, a bit like today in fact.
Rationing was a problem; we allowed only two ounces of butter.
I did a lot of voluntary work for the Old People Welfare Committee
Trevor
I'm one of her sons.
We use to stand watching the V2's coming over towards London, occasionally the engine would cut and we'd dive for the hedge and hide, it was very frightening.
We became very indifferent to all the problems the bombing was so regular.
