They lived in a house in the centre of Coventry. The house was blown up and the door was hanging off - that was the only thing that grandma was worried about - that the door was hanging off! There was an Anderton shelter in the back garden and during air-raids they had to shelter down there. Dad would hear the bombers going overhead and when it started to get really bad he was sent to the country as an evacue.
