I was evacuated from Guernsey to England with my parents, we had to abandon our lovely house like so many people did. When we returned to Guernsey we were very surprised to find that our house was in the same condition that we left it in.The house had been occupied by a German Officer and his Batman who looked after the house and furniture really well. How lucky we were!.
