I came to London by bus and I was going to Buckingham Palace with my family. There was a big crowd - there were so many. My feet didn't touch the ground. I saw the King, Queen. Princesses and Princes. I was 14 years old. Before the end of the war I was always wondering what peace was like and there was absolute jubilation on the day. All the people were very happy and were yelling: "We want the king."
