During the War I attended Four Dwellings School Quinton at the end of the Christmas Term we had our Christmas Party. And we had to take our own cup and spoon (for the jelly) I started back to school after lunch (clutching my cup and spoon and had got a little way when the sirens went off. I ran back home and down the shelter 鈥 After the all clear. Then my father took me half way to school on the saddle affixed to the crossbar of his bike. He went back to work and I went on to school. Next thing, more sirens and another air raid. I ran all the way to school and I realised that I was the only person running across what seemed an endless playground. I joined my other school chums in the Air Raid shelter where we sang 鈥淭en Green Bottles鈥 and 鈥淥ne Man Went to Mow鈥 until the all clear went and our party began!
