On the day war broke out I was two years old and living with my parents in Austin Avenue off Hartburn Lane.

Completely oblivious to world events, I decided to check how the gears on my tricycle worked. In the process, the chain took off the tip of the index finger of my right hand.

First blood to Hitler!
