My Mum and Dad lived at Hilders Bungalow, Redding Street on the Appledore Road out of Tenterden.
Dad was in the Home Guard in Tenterden Church spires looking out for German Bombers.
Eventually we moved to Oak Farm, Snargate.

One day, there was a day light raid. There was a haystack and all of a sudden there was a chicken and all these baby chicks falling off the haystack. They'd hatched there. We were all looking at a dog fight and watched chicks falling out of the stack.

We named them the 'Doodlebug Chicks'. It was quite amusing.
