During the second world war I was in the Penkhull homes.
I have fond memories of the the American soldiers who threw a huge party for us. They brought some lovely food and we had a brilliant time.
We were all well fed in Penkhull homes but we had to work hard at our chores.
Like many of my friends when I left I went into 'Service'. I worked out at Market Drayton.
