EVIL INCARNATE

The siren sounded the air raid warning doon tae the shelter, trapped 鈥榯il mornin鈥.

Our neighbours pragmatic 鈥渉ere comes Fritz鈥 wus know tae the world as the Clydebank blitz.

Red snow wus fallin鈥 that fateful night turning the darkness into daylight.

鈥淒oon the sterr, quick noo don鈥檛 fa鈥欌 oot the close roon the baffle wa鈥.

Nae shelter for us, 鈥榗os ah hud mumps scarf roon ma heid tae support the lumps.

The warden shoutin鈥 thro鈥 the door clear this building, floor by floor.

The bomb blast, a terrific sear left ma sister paralysed wi鈥 fear

Next tae oor house wus Wordie鈥檚 Stable Clydesdale horses, big and able.

The horses screams, their stalls ablaze will fill ma ears fur the rest o鈥 ma days.

The all clear sounded, we did survive dusty, cold but alive, alive.
