The first thing I can remember was having to get out of bed to get into the morrison shelter when the buzz bombs started overhead, although I was only small, I remember my father would not get out of bed.
One night a bomb went off over the back of us and fell on some flats the next morning we found a large peice of underfelt from a carpet in our back garden, I had a gas mask to wear and I hated it my brother was a baby and had some kind of protection that covered his cot.
i can remember my mother cooking with (powdered eggs) my ration books and very spars fruit and sweets. The war had only been over about 1 year when I was coming home from school and I heard a noise like a buzz bomb getting ready to drop I started screaming and my mother came to meet me and it was only an electric milk float that made the same sound.
