Wings for Victory week is here,
Let us save as planes are dear,
Let us save and stop this war,
To make it peaceful as before.
We’ll have to bomb
Old Hitler out,
To win this war,
Without a doubt.

When this nasty war is won,
And we’ve driven out the hun,
Unhappy countries we’ll release,
To make oppression ever cease.

During Wings for Victory Week a Poetry competition was held at West Monckton Primary School. My entry won the first prize – ten shillings! A fortune in those days!
