This story has been added by 大象传媒 Leeds on behalf of the contributor with his permission. I worked in the Army catering Corps from 1939 until 1947. I was the personal chef for a high ranking British Army officer who told me that he was expecting some guests for dinner but could not disclose who they were. I was to prepare a menu for agreement to ensure that it was suitable for his guests- which it was. I prepared the meal and served to the guests who in turn, sent drinks for me. I enquired who the guests were but was not allowed that information. My employer returned with a tray carying a cigar and I said that I only knew of one person who smoked that brand. I then discovered that I had, in fact served a meal to Winston Churchill, General Eisenhower, Field Marshall Montgomery and Lord Mountbatten.
