鈥淚 was being taken out for a drink at a hotel in Norwich (the Bell Hotel) by an officer, my husband to be joined us as a threesome and we all walked home together. We met again and went dancing at the Sampson and Hercules. After a few weeks we decided to get married and we wed at St Peter Mancroft. My new husband was stationed in Halesworth with the bomb disposal corps. We honeymooned in Wales.
We married in November 1940 but by the following April he had died by being blown up by a bomb that he was working on with the disposal team. I was told by telephone when I was putting up curtains. I had a baby on the way who was born in the October. It was a short marriage.
