It was in 1944 when I, Mick Tipple was 8 years old. An American bailed out of his damaged bomber and landed in field at Gulpher Farm, Felixtowe.
He was taken to the farmhouse to phone his unit. He left his parachute and harness in the field, so we took it and hid it in one of the barns.
Next day the Police came to recover it, we were given 24 hours to return it with nothing said.
So we had to give up our trophy of war.
