A cinema — the Gloria — opened in 1938 near where I lived and as the films changed three times a week , we — mother and I — would often go there many times. We always sat in the same seats, balcony, right hand side, second row from the front, first two seats. Then if anything happened people would know where to find us. If the cinema was bombed, two corpses in those seats would probably be us as we knew were other people sat. It was a lovely art deco building. It has been pulled down now and a supermarket built.
