I had my party at Co-op. We had to go home by bus, with presents, wearing party clothes, straight into the air raid.

I bought a cutlery set for my parents 25 wedding anniversary. Every time the sirens went out my mum put the cutlery set on a bucket in the middle of the gardens. She thought it would be safe.

We went to the shelter in the neighbours house.
