This story was submitted to the People's War site by CSV/´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Nottingham on behalf of Freda Longdon with her permission. The author fully understands the site's terms and conditions.

My name is Freda and I lived at Pleasley Vale. We packed all of the nuts and bolts that were sent away to the war zones. All the equipment was coded and we did not know where it was going — for purposes of security. The army camp was based 200 yards from the factory.
I have a picture taken 23rd June 1945 of me, my sister and neighbours, taken with soldiers based at the barracks.
