I was living in Apsley Cotts, Chartham near Canterbury during the war with my older brother and sister and my mother.
I remember watching Doodle Bugs being chased by Spitfires, and seeing the damage caused by one shot down at Charham Hatch. Very silly of us really, we had to have the roof repaired after the bullets had made a leak.
I suppose there was an 'air' of excitement amongst us 'young ones'. But now, what was it all for? All that loss of life and hardship. It still goes on.
