Bryan is seen here in the pilot's escape hatch of a Wellington bomber, at RAF Hereford, during 1944.
The following citation (from the Hull Mail?) shortly after Bryan Williams received his DFC. Bryan was not a pilot at stated in this citation, rather he served as a Wireless Operator/Air Gunner. Bryan told me that he never thought of himself as a 'medal winner', adding that the really brave men were those who were scared witless at the thought of what could happen on their very next mission but still turned up for each and every flight. That was real bravery.
