Sunday morning - Can't remember the year. A barrage balloon landed on the top of their house. It had escaped somehow. Special constable who lived down the street got hold of it and tied it to the letterbox to keep it safe-father wasn't happy.
We had the five engines, the RAF, the army, because it was full of gas.
They were used for stopping aircraft. Usually I lay in on a Sunday morning, but this morning the actual balloon landed on the roof and knocked the ceiling in my room down- were my head would have been.
