My father Fred Warren, was called on as a chef in the Sherwood Foresters division of the Nottingham/Derby regiment.
My father became good pals with another chef, Douglas Yeomans and they have stayed faithful friends to this day.
I was married at the time, as was Douglas Yeomans daughter Rosie. Years later, both our marriages broke up and through our fathers remaining good friends, we found out, and arranged to meet up: The rest is history and we've been happily married for 17 years.
