I remember being frightened to death of nighttime. We would always have a flask and some sandwiches ready to go down to the shelter.
I was pregnant with my son, down in the shelter, I could feel something running up my back and it turned out to be a mouse! I ran out into the street!
My husband was in the home guard. One time I started coming out in bumps on my skin everytime I got near him and I couldn't think why. It turned out I caught scabies from his uniform! I was under the doctor for a month.
My mum wouldn't come down into the shelter, she said if he wants me then he can find me up here!
