I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT ABOUT MY HUSBANDS DAD. HE JOINED THE NAVY 13 JULY 1943 AT HMS BRISTOL. HE WAS RANKED ORDINARY SEAMAN/ ABLE SEAMAN OF A BOOM DEFENCE VESSEL. HIS SERVICE NUMBER WAS JX 604869. WE KNOW THAT HE WAS BASED AT ROSYTH IN SCOTLAND. WE DON'T KNOW HOW HE GOT TO HMS ST ANGELOS OR HMS ROOKE AND WE DON'T NOW WHER HMS BRISTOL WAS BASED. WE KNOW THAT HE SERVICE ON A SHIP CALLED HMS BARFORD WHICH WE THINK IT SAW SERVICE IN MALTA. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT SAILOR WAS KILLED ACCIDENTLY WHILE CLEANING THE A A GUN IN 1943. WE KNOW OF ANOTHER SAILOR THAT SERVICE ON THE SAME SHIP HIS NAME WAS JOHNNY BURNS. BETWEEN JULY 1944 AND NOVEMBER 1946 WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT HIS SERVICE RECORD. WE KNOW THAT HIS SKIPPER WAS ROUSE. FROM 1944 HMS ST ANGELO UNTIL HE LEFT THE NAVY IN 1946 WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE PACIFFIC WAR AND WHAT SHIPS HE WAS ON AND WHAT HE DID OUT THERE. THE MINISTRY OF DEFENSE WILL NOT GIVE US ANY INFORMATION ABOUT HIS SERVICE IN THE NAVY. HIS FULL NAME WAS THOMAS CYRIL NEWEY AND HE CAME FROM WALSALL. I WOULD BE GRERATFUL IF ANYONE COULD HELP US FIND ANYTHING ABOUT HIM.
