I remember mum doing her weekly pot of lobby. It was immering nicely on the hearth when I accidently knocked it over !
I quickly got to my knees and tryed to sieve and wash the lobby back into the pot ! This took quite a while !
At tea time my mum started to serve the lobby but both myself and my father declined....saying we just weren't hungry that night !
I remember my brother used to sell sticks for fire wood and he bought himself a horse and cart and then a car and a lorry. He was then called up.
This left a car and lorry unused for the rest of the war as my father couldn't drive. It seemed such a waste !
My job during the war was to paint bombs and for this I had to wear a face mask.
I then went on to weld bombs which I enjoyed more, though I did set my feet on fire a couple of times !
