My husband Dave served in the war-everyone in his regiment used to moan about the food.
One day the captain got them all together and siad he'd been hearing of complaints about the food.He invited them to stand down and tell him what the problem was.No one except my husband came forward. He asked Dave what the problem was and Dave said inbest Potteries dialect"Food n't cooked right"
The captain summoned the Sergeant Major and told him to give Dave his rations and he could cook hims own in future.
