Hi,

Im a 36 year old member of Fife Museum Service, specialising in Fife during WW2..I am at present involved with the 'Levenmouth's War Project'based here in Buckhaven,Fife...

We are presently interviewing veterans and people from the Levenmouth area who lived here during the War Years and wish to share their War related memories with us..I have cinducted a large amount of research into this areas Wartime events and memories and hope to read abd discuss some of these issues on this site..I also would be most grateful to hear or receive any stories which any readers in the Levenmouth or General Fife area of Scotland in WW2 feel that they would like to contribute to our project,we are also looking for stories from those people left behind,Miners wifes,Children at the time etc..

Thanks in advance,for your support

I also posess an original(framed) edition of the Courier for 17 Oct 1939

Hi there Ed..

thanks for the reply..i may well be in contact with you regarding the Eye Witness report of the attack of 17th October 1939..sounds very interesting..around 1999 i was a Museum Assistant at Methil Heritage Centre, our previous Curator was Adam Smith who had went on to be the Curator at the Museum of Flight in East fortune..We had just finished a 'Methil At War' Exhibition that sumeer but we then held an Exhibition to mark the Anniversary of the First Air Raid over the British Isles, against shipping in the Forth and possibly the Bridge on 16th October 1939..We had a piece of a Tailfin of one of Helmut Pohles Ju88's shot down in the sea off Portmoak and a Luftwaffe All Weather Flying Suit (so heavy!)..We also had a brilliant Luftwaffe Aerial reconaissance photo of Methil Docks taken two weeks prior to the raid as (im sure you are aware) Methil was a very important Convoy Port during this period...

Many thanks for your info and i will probably be in touch if the Project extends beyond the Levenmouth Area..
