Having been inducted into the WRENS my sister was sent to act as ‘writer’ to the Admiral, who’s office was in what is today Trago Mills. She was billeted in the Carthion Hotel on Falmouth’s sea front. This was destroyed by a bomb and is no more. Luckily my sister was not in residence at the time. Perhaps the most significant bomb damage to Falmouth during the war was the night the oil tanks a Swanvale ware hit. The blaze could be seen for miles around. Night after night we could see the glow in the sky from the many attacks on Plymouth.
