This story was submitted on behalf of Zoe Moghadas by Steph.
This story was passed on from a granddaughter.
My grandparents were born opposite each other in the east end. They married and then my grandfather had to go out on the front line to Egypt leaving my grandmother with their child. Whilst he was trekking through the desert they stopped and he noticed that the diamond was missing from his wedding ring. He was devastated. But then he looked into the sand and there was this tiny diamond. He was so relieved because the wedding ring was his only possession. He took it as a sign that he was going to make it home.
5 years away at war, this was rthe only story he told me. He vowed not to mention the war again on his return.
