I joined ‘Kedah’ December 1944 in Chittagong as Leading Coder. My staff grew from 2 to eventually 7. We left early in 1945 on the advance down the Arakan Coast, re-occupying Akyab and on the way to Kyaukpyu on Ramree Island. Kedah was base ship to a fleet of M.L’s who used to penetrate the Chaungs all the way down the Arakan Coast and shoot up the crossings as the Japanese were making their way through. We were withdrawn to Calcutta to be the Headquarters Communications ship for the recapture of Singapore.
