I can vividly remember when the Meshersmits bombed the Parnells aerodrome in Yate.
I was in school at the time and we were all ushered into the air raid shelter beneath one of the classrooms.
We were there for a while all huddled up, then the all clear siren sounded and we all ran into the playground.
Just as I got outside I could see a spitfire chasing a German aircraft, and there were also burning red hot tracer bullets flying through the sky.
It was exiting for me at the time as a young child.
