I was 10 years old when the war started. When we were two years into the war, I can remember being in the shelter, and suddenly there was a terrific bang. Next day I went with my mother to see where the bomb had dropped. It was two streets away, and it was terrible. All houses were flattened. Everybody was looking for their relatives and friends.
This has stuck in my mind all these years.
