My mum was living at Bidborough Hall in 1943 and there was an Italian Prisoner of War Camp just up the road.

Mum's window was open, something landed on her bed and she could hear breathing. The neighbourhood had been warned about escaped prisoners so she thought it was one of them. She turned on the light on and found one of her cats (named either 'Timo' or 'Shenko' after a Russian general)!
