My Mum and Dad lived at Hilders Bungalow, Redding Street on the Appledore Road out of Tenterden.
Dad was in the Home Guard in Tenterden Church spires looking out for German Bombers. We moved from there to Arrowhead Bungalow which was next to a Polish aerodrome so we were right next to alot of bombing from the Germans. Then we moved to Snargate, Oak Farm, New Romney. We were next door to the governor. We was there and we had the roof off three times and I got a chip in my nose.
There was a man with a wooden leg in one of the three cottages. One night the side of his house got blown out and he lost his wooden leg and fell down the stairs. His wife was blown under the stairs with a cut face. A little girl who was about twelve or thirteen was under the corner stone of her house which saved her life as the rest of her house was blown to smithereens. I was covered in eiderdown.
