0330hrs.
Covers off, dry dew off cockpit hood,open hood and climb into cockpit.Look around the aircraft to see if there are any obstructions.
Switch fuel cock to gravity feed. Open Kigass pump on lower left of instrument panel.Pump five strokes of petrol into engine.Poke hand out of cockpit to indicate to rigger that he must press the button on the "Trolley-Ack". Open throttle about 1/4" and p-ress cockpit button. Engine kicks coughs and roars into full throated life.Snatch back the throttle to slow down engine. Switch to main tanks.
run engine until normal temperature is reached
Open radiator shutter.Wave to rigger to sit on the tailplane.When he is seated safely open throttle gradually to reach maximum revs of 3000, note actual revs and switch off left magneto.Hold for a minute and switch on again. Repeat check for right magneto. Max difference to be no more than 100 rpm.
Then we wait for breakfast to be brought to the dispersal at 0800hrs.
