Maud

War stated on the 3rd of September 1939 and Maud鈥檚 11th Birthday was on the 7th and she wanted to know if she was still going to have her birthday.

As a result of the war she doesn鈥檛 eat sweats or have sugar because they didn鈥檛 have them due to rations. The war at the time didn鈥檛 affect Maud when she was younger but she is now scared of lightening and thunder because it reminds her of the bombing when she was a child. Maud can remember sleeping in the air raid shelter every night and was glad of air raids when she was at school as she didn鈥檛 have to do her lessons while they where there.

Maud lost a house due to bombing in the war in hull and had to go to a holding centre until she was re-housed a few days later. There were a lot of empty houses that people have left to go to the country to get away from the bombing. Maud has since visited her house that has been bombed and can no longer recognise it due to motorways.

Maud used to go to the RAF camps and dance.

She was at her cousins wedding when the V1/2 bombers came over head and they could tell where a plane was going to fall if its engines cut out.

Later on she moved to the country to her grandparents but still went back to the town to see the bombing.
