We had a big street party.
My dad cut down some old fruit trees and the men made a big bonfire.
The ladies cooked sausages, mashed potatoes and made jellies.
Food was very short and rationed.
We were camping on our first holiday in Hayling Island when VJ was declared on the radio.
My dad packed up and brought the family home and we partied like on VE Day.
