my dad thomas jenns went into the army in 1941 he was in the 8th army one of the desert rats and the black cats. he went to sicily in1943, and italy in september 1943. he joined the 56th division through to syria and back to egypt, then to jeruselem. he later went to austria,kamburg,back to austria and bruck in 1945. he joined the 46th divsion black cats. december 1945 he went to gleisdorf and graz. in 1946 he made his way home through austria into germany through france calais then dover, he was also a batman to major reed. while he was serving in the army he wrote to his cousin telling her he wanted a pen friend, and did she know anyone, his cousin worked at gkn smethwick. she had a friend named maisie and asked if she sould write to tom. she wrote and on his next leave they met. the secound time they met tom asked her to marry him. in 1942 they married, i was born in 1943 but did not see my dad untill 1946. he was a wonderful man, loving husband and father we had a very happy family life. they went on to have another daughter lesley. sadley my father died in 1964 aged 47.
