1 I was born on 22nd June 1933 ,so I was only 6 years old when the war started in1939 and 12 years old when it finished in 1945.

2 Yes, one day I would want to be a fighter pilot shooting down enemy bombers, another day i would have liked to be a soldier fighting the Germans and also sometimes a sailor helping to sink enemy ships.
I heard on the radio news about what the Allied British , American and free European forces were doing to try to win the war and wanted to be there helping them.
I Learned from the news, my parents and listening to conversations of other people that the Germans and Japanese were bad people and had to be beaten into submission.
3 When sometimes I heard that our forces had been beaten in a battle I was afraid that the enimy might win and come and do horrible things to me.
I was also afraid when the German bombers came and droped bombs on Aberden and killed a lot of people. My father was an air raid warden and had to go out during these raids and I was afraid the bombs might kill him.
4 In our house we had a steel air raid shelter in one of the bedroms , it was about 6 feet long 4 feet wide and 3 feet high in which my mother and me used to shelter when enemy bombs were being dropped
Another image I have is of the air raid syrens wailing to warn us when bombers were coming in our direction and running to the concrete shelters in the school playground and sitting there waiting for the all clear syren to tell us it was safe to go out again.
5 Yes , I learned that in this world there are good people and bad people and that if the world is going to be a nice place to live the good people have to survive and try to persuade the bad people to a better way of living their lives.
6 Very confused, some people said there were good German and Japanese people and others said they were all bad , but i was always proud when our side was winning. I also felt I wanted to be old enough to to be involved in beating the enimy.
7 Yes ,after WW!! and the development of weapons of mass destruction that came during it and after it politicans I think now know that another world war will mean the end of the world as a fit place for anyone to live
