This Story is submitted by a volunteer on behalf of Radio Bristol Action Desk at City of Bristol College. Provided by daughter Ginny Adams. Captain John Adams in Merchant Navy recently deceased. Travelled a lot and served abroad. Torpeoded lives lost and dragged colleague off boat eventually died but John survived. Margaret (Carter) Adams nurse at Paulton Hospital then BRI during wartime whilst John was serving in Merchant Navy. Banana's during wartime were a luxury John was on a merchant ship delivering bananas among other supplies. Grandmother, Mary Carter Billeting Officer who organised where children were placed from towns to countries and also took care of troublesome, grubby children.
