I was entered into military training on Febuary 28th 1940, as a driver at Herne Bay, Kent. I moved in various stages to Taunton and then Somerset, which became the 8th Corps Head Quaters, here I was appointed as Staff Car Driver. In late 1940 I drove the Colonel to most in the South West (Bristol, Bournemouth to Lands End). From 1941-2 I saw USA Forces getting more involved in the training of their troops- ready for invading France. In March 1942 I drove the Colonel to Falmouth, and the Prince of Wales to meet up with the top American Colonel's and others.
