My father worked in a local steelworks where they made bombs.
I remember eating powdered eggs.
The village I lived in saw the arrival of what was left of the Lancashire Fusilleiers arrive from Dunkirk.
Just outside our village was the POW camp in Walsingham, Co. Durham.
