I was in England and went to Belgium about 18 months before the war ended. I was sent to be a dispatcher in the RAF — I used to dispatch mail to the signal and radar unit.
It was nice weather and some days I didn’t have to do anything and at times it was quiet. One day we had to dive in the gutter to avoid a bomber plane, which was very dangerous
When the war finished I came back to RAF Lynham and I stayed there for 15 months to recuperate.
