George Thorne appears here again in Durban, South Africa in April 1942 on their way out to The Middle East and the desert campaign.

This is a traditionally dressed Zulu warrior. Many would agree to have their photos taken for small payment and would take them on a tour of the town or city.

The South African people were extremely generous. George鈥檚 daughter was sent a large book about South African birds which she remembers very fondly.
