Submitted on behalf of Dennis Clarke by Stafford Library.

1943 2nd February. I was 18 years old. I joined up and was sent to Tor Point, Cornwall for 6 weeks' training. I was then posted to Dundee, Captain Walker's group. He had 6 ships. We were escorting merchant ships 80-100 at a time and protecting them from the U-boats. We sunk some with depth charges. If it wasn't for America and Canada, England would have starved. I did this until 1945.
