My mother-in-law's brother was in the German navy and shared his birthday with his Captain. They went out for the evening and had more than 1 over the 8 but Evelt was not so good at holding his liquor. In his drunken state he climbed onto a table and made some less than complimentary comments about Hitler. This was reported, he was arrested, stripped of his rank, forced into the Army and sent to the Russian front in disgrace - with the advise not to return as he, and possibly his family, would face further punishment. He died there, but is still remembered by his surviving sisters.
