Advertising catchphrases were just as memorable in the 40鈥檚 as now and the newly arrives US servicemen soon picked things up.

I remember long summer evenings when the late entertainment was the turning out tune at the 鈥淭urks Head鈥.

From my bedroom window I had a grandstand view and remember a group of very happy airmen staggering up the road with one of them exclaiming to the world 鈥淚f you feel rundown or run over by a jeep, take Carters little Liver Pills.鈥 What faith!鈥

Sadly, with the heavy losses of Liberator bombers from Debach airfield, I never heard him again.
